AirbnbHell.com has been featured on Forbes, Vanity Fair, Business Insider, The Guardian, MSN, Life Hacker, Buzzfeed, USA Today, and hundreds of other media outlets. The site provides a free platform where Airbnb Guests and Hosts share their uncensored nightmare stories to not only warn others, but also to apply pressure to Airbnb as a company to make a variety of policy changes and provide increased protection for users. This book contains snippets from some of the most popular stories submitted through the Airbnb Hell website, plus over 40 pages of valuable advice gleaned from years of experience and research for how Hosts and Guests can avoid the most common scams and pitfalls of Airbnb in the future.

I'll be the first to admit, I love Airbnb. But, I also recognize they have improvements to make. Because I love Airbnb so much, I felt it was necessary to read this to understand a differing perspective, and...

Would you ever surf again even though shark attacks happen? The premise of the book is that things go wrong on Airbnb. That's undoubtedly true. They've gone wrong for me a few times. But to go through the painstaking details of videoing the whole apartment and asking the host annoying questions like 'do you have any bad neighbors?' seem like a big time waster.

Also, outdated. Guests can leave reviews for hosts who cancel their reservations.

The formatting was different throughout the book, some single and some double-spaced, some lines were highlighted for pages.

My favorite part is asking me for a donation at the end....um, didn't I just pay you $5 for a book that delivered no value (I think I highlighted one line, can't remember what though). Also unprofessional to solicit their class-action lawsuit against Airbnb via this book.

Airbnb Hell Travel Nightmares from Hosts Guests and how to avoid them! Turner Wright Dan Weber 9781520766980 Books Reviews

As a FORMER airbnb host and now an independent advocate for helping those who have been harmed by the airbnb platform - I HIGHLY recommend the purchase and reading of airbnbHell. The author and writer have gone to great lengths collecting the stories of Guests & Hosts gone wrong to share with the general public. If you are already using airbnb, considering such or just a curious bystander - you will be sometimes shocked and amazed as to what both Guests and Hosts alike have endured and shared. The book is well written in the regards NOT to publicly shame airbnb, but only to make users and future users aware of the dangers involved when opening up your own home or staying in that of another.
I urge you to educate, arm and protect yourself from the perils that may be by reading this book in its entirety.
Great
The information in this text is outdated and does not reflect the Airbnb experience. It reads like a loosely stitched quilt of negative experiences from half a decade ago. It needs to be updated to remain relevant. I did not find this book to be at all insightful, informative, or applicable. I regret the purchase and would not recommend it unless one is researching the history of the company-- and even then, the perspective is highly skewed.
Great tips ;for what to ask as guest and host.
This book is very well written and it portrays the pitfalls of either opening up your home to strangers or paying to stay with someone you have never met! The insight you will gain from reading these stories can not be stressed enough. This book could very well be used at the corporate level to instruct your staff as far as the do's and dont's of any business relationships between companies and clients. That is what this book represents, stories from hosts as well as people who paid for this service. One is the company and the other is the client. Well done to the author!
As a long-time follower of AirbnbHell.com, and a former Airbnb host, I think this book is very insightful and full of useful advice to help Airbnb hosts and guests avoid some of the biggest problems (and there are MANY) with Airbnb! The book has small snippets from actual stories scattered throughout it to illustrate key points, and each section ends with clever advice on ways to deal with the issues other than simply not using Airbnb.

There are obviously many other services like VRBO, Home Away, Tripping.com, etc., but as far as I know Airbnb is still the largest, so in some places it's really the only practical option. Thus, a book like this is very useful for those who either already use Airbnb, or are considering it.

I would definitely recommend this quick-read to anyone considering using the Airbnb service as either a Host or a Guest.
This book made me VERY afraid to post my house on Airbnb. I decided against doing so.
